Sunrise of Chevy Chase

I moved my 96-year-old father into the reminiscence care unit at Sunrise of Chevy Chase three weeks ago (as of this writing) after he had been given a 30-discharge from Harmony at Martinsburg. The whole process went very smoothly thanks to the excellent communication, professionalism and compassion of Sharanda Bey. I receive regular updates from Catherine Njuguna and Jackie Atim about his health and care. Not only are they well qualified and trained, they are also kind, patient and attentive. The facility is lovely and the activities are engaging. I rest easily now that I know my father is being well cared for--I highly recommend Sunrise of Chevy Chase.

Sunrise Chevy Chase staff that work with my Dad & other residents with different types of dementia are simply awesome! They show love for their jobs in their personal approach and interactions with each resident. They know my Dad and other residents’ history, interests and preferences and the staff integrate those elements into their day. The staff demonstrate joyfulness just being present, working their shift. My sister and I are grateful!

I highly recommend Sunrise of Chevy Chase for Assisted Living and Memory Care for your loved ones. My 97-year-old father needed assisted living care in Sept 2024 following a sudden health decline. Sharanda Bey did a fantastic job expediting his new residency. From day one, the care team lead by Marlyn Hughes has done a fantastic job providing my father with professional and compassionate care, and helping him make the difficult transition from independent living to assisted living. A big reason for my choosing Sunrise was Catherine Njuguna and her wellness team; I give them high praise to their competence, engaged approach and helpful communication. I also am very grateful to Jackie Atim who managed my father's move to the memory care unit on Christmas Eve. She and her staff care for my father with skill and compassion. Bottom line is that I am very satisfied with the level of care my father is receiving at Sunrise of Chevy Chase. It is good for my father and gives me comfort knowing his well-being is in kind, qualified hands, 24/7.

I recommend Sunrise of Chevy Chase to anyone looking for a senior residence for themselves or a family member. Our family member has dementia and as the dementia worsened the doctors told us it was no longer safe for him to live at home. My family visited several senior residences and chose the Memory Care Unit at Sunrise of Chevy Chase because Sunrise was very welcoming and cheerful, and the staff was so knowledgeable about how to care for a dementia patient. The Sunrise staff gave us the guidance we needed in completing the paperwork and doctors' visits and the move went smoothly. We are grateful for the excellent care he receives at Sunrise.

Recently my mother experienced a bad fall with some broken bones that landed her in the hospital. With only a few days to research skilled rehab options post 3 short days in hospital I went to work. It quickly became apparent that the Sunrise “Road Home” program was a big notch up from many of the typical skilled nursing facilities in the area. After meeting with Nikka and the rest of the excellent Sunrise team plus a tour of the facilities it was clear this was an excellent choice. Nikka is a wonderful communicator, describing exactly what was included in the program and with complete transparency. No unwanted surprises. To be frank, we were under a lot of pressure to find my mother a safe comfortable environment to recover but Nikka and her team delivered exactly what was discussed. Of course a few initial speed bumps as my mother and the care managers got in sync with her particular needs, but everyone was super positive and focused on finding quick solutions. A big peace of mind knowing my mother is being well looked after and recovering on pace. Thank you Sunrise of Chevy Chase!

My father has been a memory care resident for about 10 months at Sunrise Chevy Chase. The staff’s care and interactions with Dad are excellent. Our care director, Jackie Atim and her team of LEM and Care managers work tirelessly to create an environment where my father is very engaged and lives out his daily life with dignity. I sincerely appreciate the entire Memory care staff and the Wellness team’s attention to his medical care! Dad is living and thriving in the right place!

We recently moved our grandmother from a less-than-ideal rehab center into Sunrise of Chevy Chase 5 months ago, and it’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made for her well-being—and our peace of mind. From the start, the team went above and beyond to make what is usually a complicated and emotional process as smooth as possible. They worked swiftly to get the necessary paperwork done, and the Director of Sales (Sharonda Bey) even spent over an hour on the phone with us—on a weekend—making sure everything was in place. That kind of dedication is rare, and it really set the tone for what we’ve come to expect from this community. Since moving in, Grandma has been treated with nothing but dignity, kindness, and genuine care. The care team lead by Marlyn Hughes is incredibly communicative and always available to answer questions or provide updates. It’s clear they truly care about their residents - that level of personal attention and respect makes all the difference. Yes, the price tag is on the higher side—but in our experience, it’s absolutely worth it. Sunrise is a one-stop shop for a situation that’s already tough enough. Instead of juggling multiple providers or worrying about gaps in care, we now have confidence that every aspect of Grandma’s health, safety, and comfort is being looked after in one place. The peace of mind it brings to our family is priceless. The facility itself is bright, clean, and inviting. There’s a great variety of activities that keep residents engaged, and it’s been such a joy to see Grandma in a place where she’s truly cared for. We are endlessly grateful and would recommend this community to any family navigating senior care—it’s everything we hoped for and more.
