"I am a graduate of George mason University. I live in Alexandria Virginia with my husband and two kids. I decided that I will become a nurse because my mom was always sick and needed someone to take care of her. I love being a nurse and I have always wanted to work with the geriatric population. I choose to work with Sunrise because of the outstanding job they do. They have good customer services and have always put their resident first before anything. The quality of care provided by this company is excellent. In my free time, I love traveling, dancing, and spending time with my family."
"I remember the days as a young boy living in the island of Jamaica watching my mother making our cultured food with recipes she inherited from her mother. Once I started cooking with my mother using Granny’s recipes, I knew right away I wanted to be a chef. After I graduated from Tilden High School in New York. I decided to attend the Culinary Institute of America, in Hyde Park New York. There I was awarded my Culinary Degree and had the pleasure of meeting JW Marriott. We went deep in conversation about my goals in becoming an executive chef, not realizing I was being interviewed. At the end of our conversation; Mr. Marriott said call me after graduation. Two weeks later after graduation I know my next move was moving to Maryland.
I began working as the executive chef at Marriott Test Kitchen where we created signature recipes which is still in use within the Marriott hotels all over the world. In 1995 I was transfer to the Marriott Healthcare sector at Holy Cross Hospital as the director of dining services. Four years later I had another transfer to Knollwood Senior living, as well as Five Star Senior Living. During 31 years of my career I was awarded first place 3 consecutive years for international cuisine in Europe. Champion Iron chef in the Metropolitan area for the Taste of Senior competition in Washington DC. . I remember a few years ago one of my resident asked me what do I like about cooking? My honest answer was watching you enjoying my food. Some of my favorite cuisines to make include Caribbean, European, Asian and Italian. During my free time I continue to create recipes at home with my baby girl, apprentice Shaolin Kempo. Looking back of my life I can proudly say I AM. SUNRISE!!!!"
"My name is Baymayah Dunyankor (Maya for short) and I’m excited to announce I am your new Activities Volunteer Coordinator. My hobbies include reading, traveling, and trying new restaurants. I've worked with seniors for a while ,dealing with personal care then I transitioned into activities. I’ve worked in quite a few assistant living communities and group homes, where I’ve retained an abundance of experience. . I’m aware of how imperative it is to have our residents participate in social activities, to help keep their mind sound and their Spirits stimulated. Our focus will be to have everyone engaged physically and mentally on a consistent basis with the assistance of our amazing employees and of course the love ones of our residents .
