Cheryl has worked in the senior living industry for the last 16 years, mainly in the Manhattan market. She started working for Sunrise as the Executive Director of Sunrise of Staten Island in November of 2019 and was given the opportunity to oversee the opening of Sunrise of New Dorp as the Executive Director in November of 2020.
Her favorite part of her job is being a part of the incredible transition a resident goes through after moving into a community. Residents often become depressed and isolated living at home. When they move to a Sunrise community, they are able to start living their best life again through appropriate care, medication management, socialization and activities.
She believes the best part about working at Sunrise is being given the responsibility and privilege to care for people during their most vulnerable time and being able to make their lives better.
She has two young boys, 2 and 3 months, that keep her and her husband busy during their spare time. They enjoy going to the park, swimming, and traveling whether it be a road trip to Lake George or a flight to Disney World.
Ayo began her career with Sunrise of Staten Island in December of 2010 as a Care manager, while attending school to get her LPN. She became an RN in 2018 and was promoted to Full-time Wellness Nurse for Sunrise of Staten Island, where she covered as acting Resident Care Director throughout the COVID 19 pandemic.
Ayo accepted the position as Resident Care Director for Sunrise of New Dorp in September of 2020. We are so excited to have her lead our wellness department!
Ayo has four children and was recently married. In her free time, she enjoys binge watching Netflix and spending quality time with family.
April began her career with Sunrise of Staten Island in 2008 as Activity and Volunteer Coordinator. In 2011, she became Director of Sales for Sunrise of Staten Island. During this time, she became a job coach and mentor for numerous Directors of sales and created a Pen Pal program during the COVID 19 pandemic.
In October of 2020, April accepted the role as Director of Sales for Sunrise of New Dorp. She is beyond excited for this new chapter in her career and is proud to be part of the history of this community.
April has one son, who is the light of her life! In her spare time, she enjoys shopping, spending time with family, and going the beach any chance she gets!
Kristina began her career at Sunrise Senior Living of Staten Island in 2015 as Assisted Living Coordinator with a background in social work. She became Director of Sales in 2017 and transferred to Sunrise of Sheepshead Bay. In December of 2020, Kristina accepted the position as Director of Sales for Sunrise of New Dorp.

In her spare time, she enjoys going to concerts, having dinner with friends, and creating memories with her family. Kristina’s favorite hobby of all is watching her 4-year-old son learn and grow into a smart and fun little boy!
Shannon worked with adults with developmental disabilities as Service Manager for A Very Special Place. There, she managed training programs and taught basic life skills to her individuals, introducing them into the workforce. Shannon has a passion for helping people.
In April of 2021, Shannon joined the team at Sunrise of New Dorp as Resident Care Coordinator.
Shannon competed in Hunter Jumper’s horse back riding events and is an avid animal lover.
In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, horseback riding, exercising, and spending time with her family. Shannon is recently engaged and is excited to be part of the Sunrise family!
Daisy began her career in the culinary world in 1998. She enrolled at the French Culinary Institute, where she won first prize for her final project, “The Passionate Palate.”
In 2005, Daisy launched her new career with Daisy Cooks! on PBS which ran for 6 years. In 2009, Daisy hosted Viva Daisy on the Food Network channel. She later wrote the cookbook, Daisy Cooks! Latin Flavors that Will Rock Your World, which was an IACP nominee and winner of the Best Latino Cuisine Cookbook in the World by the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, as well as two others.
She joined Sunrise of Sheepshead Bay in 2019 as Dining Services Coordinator, bringing her years of experience and flare. Daisy is happy to be joining the team at Sunrise of New Dorp!
In her spare time, Daisy enjoys playing with her grandchildren, Latin dancing, and trying new restaurants.
Jesse graduated from State University of Cortland in May of 2020 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Community Health with a concentration in Healthcare Management. While doing so, Jesse competed in collegiate track and field for four years. She is currently enrolled in the Saint Joseph's College Healthcare Management M.B.A program and will graduate in May 2022.
She previously was employed at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital as an intern where she worked to enhance important administrative aspects of the Hospital, including community health assessments and project implementations for new developments. Furthermore, she is a personal trainer.
In June 2021, Jesse joined the Sunrise of New Dorp team as Activities and Volunteer Coordinator.
In Jesse's free time, she enjoys exercising, hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and spending time with family.
