Meet the Sunrise of Park Ridge Team

Welcome to Sunrise of Park Ridge in Illinois! We are delighted to introduce you to our team members. We are fortunate to have a very special, tenured team with over 400 cumulative years of service committed to championing the quality of life for our residents here at Sunrise of Park Ridge. We happily serve as a resource to residents within our Sunrise community and their families, in addition to those who reside in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. We look forward to meeting you personally and sharing the Sunrise Signature Experience with you and your loved ones.

Executive Director

"I began my career with Sunrise in 2004 as the Assisted Living Coordinator at the Sunrise of Schaumburg community. I am a graduate of the Executive Director in Training Program and became the Executive Director at Sunrise of Schaumburg in February of 2007. In August of 2008, I transferred to the Sunrise of Lincoln Park community and was the Executive Director there for 6 years. I left Sunrise for a couple of years and returned as the Executive Director of the Park Ridge community in February of 2017. I went to school to become a Professional Counselor. Prior to Sunrise, I worked as a Program Manager of a Mental Health Rehabilitation program working with adults and as a Child Social Worker.

Like all the Coordinators at Sunrise of Park Ridge, I have an open door policy. Working directly with residents, family members, and team members is my passion. I am so proud to be part of an organization that has been a pioneer in the industry and continues to be a “trail blazer” for the Senior Living movement.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my two Dachshunds, Mardi and Felix. Last year, I bought an RV travel trailer, and we like to take it on road trips to go camping."

Resident Care Director

My job has multiple roles as a nurse, manager, preceptor, teacher, trainer and instructor. The favorite part of my job is managing the health care needs of the residents with a holistic approach to care.

The best part of working for Sunrise is the joy of working for a company with a mission to champion the quality of life for all seniors backed by Principles of Service and Core values.

In my spare time, my leisure activities include coaching the kids’ soccer team and watching old cowboy movies.

Assisted Living Coordinator

I have worked for Sunrise for 19 years. I started as a Care Manager at the Sunrise of Park Ridge community working part-time on the overnight shift. I became a Lead Care Manager as well as a Medication Care Manager. In 2001, I was promoted to the Assisted Living Coordinator position. Prior to working at Sunrise, I was a Special Education Teacher.

Getting to know my residents is what I enjoy the most about my position. Learning their life stories helps me to understand them better to ensure we are able to improve their quality of life. We are an additional support system for the families.

What I like best is that I truly enjoy coming to work each day. Working with such a great team of professionals, who are supportive of one another and share similar goals of caring for the residents, is such a rewarding experience for me.

In my spare time, I really love to curl up with a great book. I enjoy both fiction and historical novels.

Reminiscence Coordinator

"Before joining the Sunrise Team, I worked as a Memory Care Director in a Skilled Nursing Facility, and also was an Executive Director of a hospice company. Those different experiences have helped me in my role at Sunrise as well. 

In my spare time I enjoy trying new recipes and using new spices to experiment with different flavors. I enjoy paper crafting by making cards and articulated paper-dolls. In addition to that, I am an avid reader, usually reading about 36 new books per year."


Charmen ThompsonCharmen Thompson — Team Member since 2011

Activity & Volunteer Coordinator

"I started my career with Sunrise in 2011 as a Care Manger, from there I worked as a Lead Care Manager, and prior to being promoted to Activity & Volunteer Coordinator, I was a Life Enrichment Manager. All of those experiences have helped me as I incorporate Mind, Body and Spirit focus as I plan and execute activities for our residents in a meaningful way.

My favorite part of working at Sunrise is striving everyday to achieve the Sunrise Mission.

In my time away from work, I enjoy spending it with family and friends."
