Sunrise of Scottsdale

Meet the Sunrise of Scottsdale Team

We are pleased to introduce you to some of the members of our outstanding team who work tirelessly to make our community a wonderful place to call home.

Kathi.ED_ScottsdaleKathi Yap

Executive Director

"I began working at Sunrise in July 2008. What I love about working at Sunrise is that I am able to impact my residents lives in a positive way, as well, make the work environment fun and rewarding as we all work towards our common mission which is “To Champion the Quality of Life for all Seniors”. I embrace all of the Principles of Service but my favorite one is: “Preserving Dignity”. Every human being deserves to be treated with kindness and respect. To look in to the eyes of my residents and know that how I treat them is how I want my parents treated is why I have been doing what I have considered my life’s work for the past 40 years. When I am not at work I enjoy visiting my family in Hawaii and Utah, I love to read and create works of art, and I enjoy taking long walks with my husband and going to the movies."

Reminiscence Coordinator

"I have worked for Sunrise since October 2008. I love what I do, with the residents being the highlight of why I do it. They make my world brighter, every day is a new day and I know that I am making a difference. To share the last years of our resident’s lives with them is an honor. My favorite Principle of Service is “Celebrating Individuality”. Celebrating each resident as an individual is the key and success to a happy resident. Everyone, no matter what their age, wants to feel special in their own way. When I am not at work I enjoy my family and love to travel and create new adventures."

Business Office Coordinator

"I have been working at Sunrise since December 11, 2007. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is when I get to interact with the residents. I enjoy listening to their stories and getting to know them. At Sunrise we base our care on 6 Principles of Service and my favorite is, “Involving Family and Friends”. I love to watch the residents and their happy faces when we hold in-house events and their loved ones join in. When not at work I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and watching movies."

Kevin.DSC_ScottsdaleKevin Guy

Dining Service Coordinator

"I am a graduate from Scottsdale Culinary Institute with a Bachelor’s in Culinary Arts and Hotel Management. I have been cooking professionally for 14 years with various experiences in hotels, resorts and senior living communities. One of my favorite things about my job is meeting new residents and building friendships. I take great pride in my meal preparation, I believe in treating everyone with respect and dignity and I enjoy learning about everyone’s different backgrounds, stories and memories. When I am not working I love spending time with my two daughters. I also enjoy fishing, camping, playing golf, traveling, watching football (go Raiders and U of A) and spending time with my family."

Activities & Volunteer Coordinator

“I have been with Sunrise for a little over 5 years, and have loved every minute that I get to make a difference in the lives of our residents.” It is truly an honor to get to know each resident, and design activities that they will personally enjoy. Because each resident is uniquely special, one of my favorite principles of service is “Celebrating Individuality.” I love getting to know each resident’s life story and being part of their continued journey. When I am not at Sunrise, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three (almost grown) children, exercising, reading, and enjoying a good cup of coffee."
