Executive Director

"I have worked with Sunrise since 2006. I started as the Resident Care Director at Sunrise of Annapolis, transferred to Sunrise of Severna Park as the Associate Executive Director, and then, moved here to Silver Spring in 2010. Before that I spent 12 years working in Home Care.

The favorite part of my job is being able to make a difference in the lives of my residents, their family members, and my team members. I love watching my residents flourish after they move in, seeing my family members being able to finally breathe and supporting my team members in their growth! There are so many things that make Sunrise the best place to work at. I am truly impressed that our company’s actions support their words. I love that Sunrise promotes a cozy home like environment with a family friendly atmosphere that promotes team work at its best. I so appreciate holistic care looking at all aspects of the resident through the end of life while keeping the resident’s wishes intact. I also think it is wonderful that Sunrise believes in its team members, investing much time, training and support, empowering us to do great things!

In my spare time, I enjoy caring for and spending time with my family, which at present, includes three sons, a daughter, two grandchildren, three granddogs, three grandcats, and a cockatiel. I also enjoy traveling, reading, crafts, and collecting antiques."

Director of Sales

"I have been with Sunrise since 2018. Without question, the favorite part of my job is being able to play an integral role in helping families navigate the next step in life for their loved one(s) in what is often an emotional crossroads – one which is often filled with much angst and uncertainty. Building connections as I laugh and cry daily with families, imparting knowledge and building trust through stories of success and evidencing the loving care is found everywhere in our community.

Aside from the obvious of being surrounded by a lifetime of stories, diversity and wisdom – the best of part of working at Sunrise is my firm belief in the genuine commitment of my fellow colleagues. I have never worked alongside such a dedicated, resident-centric, enthusiastic, supportive and hardworking team. The life and love felt throughout our community and most-importantly, our residents, is infectious and immeasurably felt in the lives of our residents.

Canadian born and raised, I love to travel and have done so extensively. Whilst raising four children, I still make time for all my loves and in any spare time can be usually be found in the gym. I have a passion for fitness. Although a certified yoga instructor, I have yet to give it more attention than my truest love of CrossTraining. I like anything outdoors – gardening, hiking, running, kayaking or SUP. I also enjoy cooking, writing and painting."

Resident Care Director

"I migrated from Ghana in 2007 to the United States with my family. Prior to coming to the States, I was an elementary school teacher for seventeen years, teaching less privileged children.

I joined Sunrise of Columbia in 2007 as a Care Manager, while attending Howard Community College. I graduated as License Practical Nurse (LPN) then continued to Prince George’s Community College for my Associates in Nursing. I graduated as Registered Nurse while still working full time at Sunrise of Columbia. I am honored to be continuing my journey as a Nurse with Sunrise of Silver Spring!

My favorite part of my job is being able to put a smile on the faces of my residents, even in their final moments, and providing peace of mind to their families. I also enjoy working with and getting to know my team members. Sunrise has been an incredible part of my life here in America not only professionally but also because of the impact we make on our residents and workers. We, indeed, are a big family.

There are so many things that make Sunrise the best place to work. Sunrise promotes and encourages professional growth, investing in training programs and providing support for employees. I have been lucky to experience all these things.

I have 3 children: my 2 oldest girls graduated from University of Maryland College Park and currently work as a Nurse and an Intelligence Analyst. My youngest son is in his junior year of high school and loves volunteering in our community. In my spare time I enjoy cooking for my family as well as watching the news."

Assisted Living Coordinator

"I have worked with Sunrise since I started as a care manager in August 2011 and became a Lead Care Manager after eleven months. I have been a Lead from 2012 to 2017 (both Assisted Living and Reminiscence), and I became a Coordinator after taking the DCIT training from 2016 to 2017.

I get a sense of fulfillment when a family member recognizes our work, appreciates it, and trusts us fully; especially the ones that were not too sure if they made the right decision. Every time that happens I say to myself, “We did it again”. The best part of working at Sunrise for me will be being able to grow, both professionally and personally. I have seen so many people start from the bottom and end up on top.

In my free time, cooking is one of my favorite things to do, but most of all, I enjoy spending time with my three daughters."

Reminiscence Coordinator

"I have been with Sunrise since 2003! Before joining Sunrise, I was a high school teacher in Cameroon and later worked as an Administrative Assistant in a private school in Raleigh, NC.

My favorite part of my job is communicating with residents, families, and other customers. The best part about working at Sunrise is that it is a very family-oriented company.

When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and children along with spending time at my church."

trevor bussey silver springTrevor Pusey

Dining Services Coordinator

Trevor immigrated to the United States from Jamaica with his family when he was 19 years old. In 1976, he studied Culinary Arts at Magic Pan in the District of Columbia in 1976. After graduation, Magic Pan offered Trevor a job as a teaching chef, training both Chefs and Managers. After 11 years of teaching, he decided to move on and accepted a position at Casa Maria, a Mexican restaurant. After about a year, he then took a position at Manor Care as their Lead Chef and later was promoted as their Dining Services Director, where he worked for the next 27 years. Manor Care closed their doors in 2015, so Trevor took some time with his family before coming to work with Sunrise, here at Silver Spring in 2016.

He loves to spend time with his family that includes five children. He enjoys fishing and watching football. Most of all Trevor loves spending time with the residents and watching people enjoy his culinary creations.
