Executive Director

"I joined the Sunrise family in 2005. I started at Sunrise as a Care Manager at Brighton Gardens of Lakewood, in Colorado. Over the past 14 years, I transferred to three different Sunrise communities. I held many roles, from Care Manager, Lead Care Manager, Medication Care Manager, Assisted living Coordinator and Reminiscence Coordinator, where I have been for the past four years at Sunrise of Plano. I successfully completed the Executive Director in Training Program and am working toward becoming a certified Validation Therapy Trainer. I look forward to many more opportunities to serve our residents and families, while growing within the Sunrise family.

What I love most about Sunrise is that everyone here is family; from our residents, their loved ones and our entire Sunrise team. 

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, sports, cooking and shopping."

"I have worked for Sunrise since 2011. I spent four years at Sunrise of Frisco before transferring to Sunrise of Plano in January of 2016, and I am happy to now be at Sunrise of Hillcrest! Working with families every day as they face the difficult decision of choosing senior living for themselves or a loved one, is both challenging and rewarding. Seeing residents settle into their Sunrise lifestyle and seeing an improvement in their quality of life, is why I love what I do.  

I love working with such a wonderful team, who share the same passion for helping seniors and their families. 

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and my two cats and two dogs."

Assisted Living Coordinator

"I started at Sunrise in August 2017. Throughout college, I led and participated in humanitarian clubs and healthcare initiatives in Nebraska. During my senior year, I did an internship as an Administrator in training at a local nursing home. This experience allowed me to build a strong management style and to be well versed in numerous departments within a healthcare facility. Shortly after, I obtained my Assisted Living Administrator license and worked as a Home Care Manger for two years before moving to Texas. 

My favorite part of my job is coming to work everyday and making a positive impact in the lives of our residents. The best part of working at is being a part of a family atmosphere, which I see through how much everyone cares and are willing to go above and beyond the call of duty every single day. 

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends."


Kay Nestel–Team Member since 2006

Maintenance Coordinator

“I have been with Sunrise since 2006 after retiring from Sperry.

My favorite part of my job is being able to make a difference in our residents’ lives on a daily basis. I enjoy working with the residents at Sunrise on Hillcrest.

In my spare time, I like to go kayaking, fishing, camping and swimming in the great state of Texas."

Dining Services Coordinator

“I have been working in the kitchen since I was 19 years old and have been a member of the Sunrise team since 2010.

My favorite thing to cook is desserts, particularly fruit tarts. I love to make the residents feel special. When residents have really specific requests, I will go out and talk to them to make sure I’m making something they will want and like. I know it makes them feel special and it makes me feel good too.”

Adrine Njeri–Team Member since 2007

Lead Care Manager

"I have been with Sunrise since 2007. I have a passion for serving senior, and I take care of my own mother outside of work. 

I love to communicate with the residents and make them feel happy and safe. They rely on me to take care of them, and they trust me. In turn, I get so much joy from seeing our residents everyday and building relationships with them."
