Sunrise of Severna Park

Staff are very friendly and eager to help as best they can. Yes, we would recommend this community to other families based on the experience we have had so far.

I would give Sunrise of Severna Park, for all of its categories 5 out 5's ! I accidentally went into the assisted living area & saw the support dog was even smiling as he slept on the floor!! It is beautiful facility with so many kind and considerate support staff. Severna Park is really a lovely place to live in your senior years. Hopefully, Severna Park will be around for a long time!

This is a beautiful facility with all of the services that we are looking for, particularly multiple spacious apartment style options. I was pleasantly surprised to find critically desired amenities nearby, such as the library, Severna Park community center, B and A trail, St John's church, and shopping for our more independent senior.

The facility was clean and bright, the residents were happy and the care appeared great! A ton of staff everywhere. The rooms were bright but small and the residents were met were happy and seemed to enjoy living at sunrise.

The staff we met was great at all the facilities — nothing I could differentiate between on just the visits. Alleged caregiver support, living areas and costs between facilities were similar. The biggest discriminator was the easy commute. Subsequent to the visit — when my wife was at Sunrise after her illness — I was impressed with how the staff worked to get her walking, eating and interacting better — she made a significant recovery — the staff has continued to provide outstanding support for my wife and me. A place for Mom did a great job coordinating our visits. We were presented with several good options in our area. This enabled us to make an optimal decision on the assisted living facility solution. We chose Sunrise of Severna Park as it met all requirements and had the shortest commute.

The sales staff and Exec. Dir. went out of their way to accommodate my family in unusual circumstances. Unfortunately, 10 days after moving my in-laws from assisted living to independent living, my MIL suddenly passed away. Sunrise helped facilitate a quick move from a 2-BR apt to a 1-BR one so that my FIL did not have to live in the apt where his wife died. We will forever be grateful to them for their kindness.

What we like the most about the community is that the Staff is kind and attentive. The facility is well kept. Good variety of meals. Very comfortable and loving environment.

-Unfortunately there have been times when a resident needed assistance, the alarm was pressed and didn't work (i.e. the staff was not alerted to the distress call). I don't know if this has been repaired. -my mother is in independent living and can still drive during the day. She has taken sick residents to Urgent Care several times. There should be a service available for this. - the laundry room on the ground floor is a totally inadequate - we were only shown the nice one upstairs on our initial tour. However my mom is stuck with the very small, inadequate one. - No renovations to units since they were constructed 40 years ago(!?). They just paint and replace carpet. There are still bathtubs in the primary bathrooms, this is unsafe and doesn't meet current codes for senior living construction. Other facilities renovate as needed between residents. -the food is acceptable but mediocre and should be improved. The staff is friendly, the residents are friendly and welcoming, the weekly cleaning service is great, activities are good and it's a convenient location for my mother.

Clean place inside and out. Good food management. Good activities. Many kind people, that work hard. In-house doctors are wonderful! Outside grounds kept up very well. You MUST be an advocate for your loved one. You must visit often to confirm loved one is getting the care they need and are paying for. If paying extra for care giver or medicine distribution then be sure its being provided as agreed.

I enjoyed the tour, meeting new people, the apartments, and grounds. Many of the apartments have carpet. They haven’t been updated. By the time I got home, my nose and I began to have allergic reaction to carpets. Thank you for opportunity to have a ride and viewing of your facility.

Wonderful meal plan with complementary breakfast offered along with complementary dinner and inexpensive lunch ($[removed]), but small dining area requires two dinner seatings. Crowded environment. Facility had a parking problem. Cars everywhere even in the fire emergency lanes. No apparent security. Facility security is problematic so close to busy MD Route 2 and no facility guard. No workout facilities in building. (Apparently there is gym equipment in a separate building,) No laundry facilities in private apartments. Resdents have access to public laundry facilities on each floor. But apartment cleaning including bed linen cleaning is offered. Building shows some maintenance problems.
