Meet some of the members of our team here at Sunrise at Fair Oaks, Virginia.
"My passion for working with the Geriatric population has kept me working in this field for over 16 years. It does not feel like a job for me, but rather providing care to an extension of my family.
I’m a registered nurse by training and graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor’s of Science in nursing degree. I also hold a Master’s degree in Public Health, from the George Washington University in DC. I enjoy travelling in my spare time."
"Prior to working at Sunrise, I have 14 years experience in new home sales (this is different from being a realtor). I was a sales manager with CSP (Certified Sales Professional) designation – and have worked a good number of years serving the 55+ clientele. I came to Sunrise to pursue a role that will allow me to focus my efforts on serving the seniors who are near and dear to me and work on bringing forth a positive impact in the lives of people I meet each day.
My favorite part of my job are the team members I work with and the senior residents we serve. What drew me to this company is the Sunrise story- how it was founded with the purpose of championing quality of life for the very people it serves. That is very important to me.
I love to travel with my husband and children. I love seeing the world and we have traveled to 16 countries in the last 5 years! I also do ballroom dance and enjoy competing!"
Kerri’s favorite part of her job is seeing the residents, families and team members in a home environment as part of a big, happy, extended family. Kerri enjoys being a part of the Sunrise family and serving the Sunrise principles of Service. In her spare time she enjoys museums, movies, reading and playing softball. She loves playing with her fur babies (dogs and cats), Washington Nationals games, shopping and gardening.
Kym had been at Sunrise at Fair Oaks since before they opened their doors in 2001. Prior to joining the Sunrise team, she worked for Bay County Behavioral Health. Her favorite part of working at Sunrise is that every day she learns something new. When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
"I have worked at Sunrise for 5 months. I come from the Apartment Housing field, although mechanically is the same, the rest of the structure is different. My favorite part of working is getting the job done. What first appealed is that is very close to my own home, the one I discovered was the possibility of making our residents happy and be part of their lives.
During my spare time, I like to work in my cars, I am an amateur mechanic and like every bit of it."
Jack transplanted from Arizona and joined Sunrise 5 years ago as a Dining Services Coordinator. He holds our mission “To Champion the Quality of Life for All Seniors”, close to his heart and it shows in the quality of food he prepares for his residents. When he has time, he loves to fish, hike and hunt.
"My name is Kaitlin Dawson and I am the Activities and Volunteer Coordinator! I am brand new both to Sunrise and Northern Virginia. Before Sunrise, I worked as the Life Enrichment Director at an Assisted Living facility in Wisconsin. My favorite part of this position is building relationships with each resident and being a positive impact on their lives each day. Bringing joy and laughter to Residents, fuels my passion of enriching lives and improving their quality of life. I’ve only been at Sunrise for a short amount of time, but I’ve been welcomed with open arms and know that everyone here cares for one another. I value the Sunrise mission and it is clear to me that the rest of staff does too. I was born and raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, visiting with family and friends, trying new foods, and watching football!"
