The dining team at Sunrise of Silver Spring, MD, loves working toward creating the ultimate dining experience. Each month we host a cooking demonstration social where new menu items are presented for the residents to enjoy.
Interestingly, Italian dressing is one of our “secret” ingredients that our culinary team utilizes to add a special twist to menu items frequently. Our residents love it! Our residents are also encouraged to provide family recipes to share with the dining team at move-in and on a monthly basis so that we can prepare the meal for them during regular times, as well as special occasions such as birthday parties or anniversaries.
Holidays at our community are extra special. For example, on Christmas and Thanksgiving, we host a family buffet with a widespread selection of traditional food items, such as turkey, ham, green bean and James’ signature mac and cheese. It doesn’t end there, though! We also host a well-attended Annual Seafood Festival and Luau, as well as a cookout on Father’s Day. Another opportunity for residents to enjoy additional food items is during our Sunday monthly brunch. No matter what day it is, James and the dining team at Sunrise of Silver Spring, MD, serve healthy and delicious meals.
We’re also proud to offer all-day dining, which allows our residents to enjoy the food they love throughout the day. During kitchen operating hours, residents can order a variety of healthy and flavorful food from our in-house culinary team. Residents can take their food back to their suite or enjoy it in the dining room or bistro. From sandwiches and soup to salads and fruit, residents can conveniently satisfy their cravings. As always, the meals can be customized to meet the dietary needs and preferences of each resident.
Our dining services coordinator, James Ebron, loves spending time in the dining rooms of both our Assisted Living and Reminiscence neighborhoods to receive more feedback from residents about their meals. He encourages open communication during monthly resident dining council meetings about their needs and preferences in order to continue creating a positive dining experience. James began his career with Marriott International Hotels and Conference Centers for an impressive 15 years, where he received several awards and accommodations from his outstanding contributions. Ten years ago, he was later presented with an opportunity to join the Sunrise team at Sunrise of Silver Spring, MD, and he has been serving here ever since. We are so grateful for James and his delicious food, especially the house favorite, his homemade macaroni and cheese!
